This part is designed to move the rear caliper from the very vulnerable stock location at the lower leading edge of the brake disc to a safer location on top of the disc. If you ride your bike off-road or on gravel streets, this is an absolute must. The relocation will help prevent damage from wayward rocks and buildup and possible failure from dirt, mud and road grime. It also allows for much easier inspection and cleaning of the pads and caliper.
